*taps mic* Is this thing on? Not sure, last time I posted was a really long time ago, but I feel like typing my thoughts here, because Twitter and Youtube comments are extremely restricted in terms of character limit.

So if you’ve been living under a rock for the past few days, Machinima has been getting tons of flak in regards to their partnership program, in which you gain partner status and get paid for making gaming videos. Apparently SOME of their contracts gave them too much enforcement over people, and while it is understandable that the people are at fault for not reading the contract, they sign really young people. I’m a very tolerable person. Kids like this guy do not bother me in the vocal department. However watching his latest video, “Support Strike Package” just frustrated the hell out of me. That video is the epiphany of Call of Duty commentaries. What do I mean? Well, lets make a CoD commentary together shall we! Here are the steps:

1) Start off with an introduction of yourself, and always introduce the game, even though it will never change, and tell people what loadout you use in the video, even though it doesn’t matter to anyone.

2) Discuss a topic that has no relevance to gaming or strategy, just make sure it is something very relate-able, this way people discuss it in comments, but you won’t get any negative remarks on your opinion.

3) Remember to bash the idea of liking, favoriting, subscribing into your subscriber’s heads until their brain isn’t able to comprehend what quality content is.

So now that you know all the elements of a “good” commentary, LETS HEAR ONE!

Wwwwwwwwwwhat is up guys, Prower here with another Modern Warfare 3 gameplay commentary, the gameplay in the background is me getting a MOAB with the silenced PP90 Steady Aim, but that’s not what I’m hear to talk about, I’m hear to talk about Racism. Yes, we know its bad, but in this day and age, it seems like the norm to stereotype races, seeing as the majority follow these stereotypical outlines. This brings up the point, is racism NEVER able to be justified?  Now, I’m not saying I’m racist by any means, but think about it. In regards to African Americans, racism was usually held in the form of ignorance. But what do I see day in and day out at school? Thats right, African Americans being ignorant. Now, I’m not saying they are the ONLY ones who act ignorant, nor am I saying that they as a race do it, but when you are given freedoms, and would rather fit into the stereotype you fight against, what should be done?

Okay, maybe racism isn’t the most widely agreed upon subject, but you get the idea. A lot of commentaries end up being about school life, going to college, and talking to girls. This obviously tailors itself to younger viewers whom are socially awkward, and honestly, these commentaries don’t help.

TL;DR - Machinima is EVIL, Call of Duty commentaries are all the same generic BS anyone can spew out, simply because the series and commentaries appeal to audiences who have yet to really developed a mind good enough to critique the content they watch.

I do want to make a small disclaimer though, not ALL commentators are like this, and some are really good at what they do. But this is another case of a million commentators in an ocean of Youtube with it being almost impossible to pick out the good from the sea of bad.

So, I was recently inspired to try and reboot “Let’s Playing”/Walkthroughs/Playthroughs a few days ago, and thought Sonic Generations would be a good place to start.

I don’t know if it is just me, but I am over-obsessed with quality. Video, audio, commentary, etc… I record hours, upon hours of footage, and throw it away constantly.

Unfortunately, this is what I am considering doing with Sonic Generations. I recorded the entire game. Three hours. Why? Because I had a few interruptions, such as door knocking (I keep my door closed for recording, because my microphone, while amazing quality, picks up EVERYTHING), and at one point, the answering machine was going on in the background. Am I over-analyzing my videos? Besides interruptions, I can’t, for the life of me, control my commentary. I will be rambling one moment, and the other moment I won’t be saying anything.

While I use Sonic Generations in this example, it transfers into anything I record. Attempting to get gameplay for a Team Fortress 2 commentary is near impossible. Not because I suck at the game, but because my standards are too high. I try to have a video where I die hardly ever, where I know the players are competent (not valve servers), and can be used as strategic advice. I know that things like stale commentary can be remedied over time, but I just can’t live with releasing content that I, myself, would not enjoy.

Oh, let’s not forget about my garbage upload speed. It feels like a chore making a high quality youtube video, and then have to wait hours, upon hours to upload it. I recorded Portal 1, which would have taken three days to upload, if I didn’t scrap it, for reasons mentioned above.

Oh well, eventually I’ll hopefully get into a habit of at least posting SOMETHING…

Some people are overly competitive in the server, but they can never back anything up and get laughed at. (Especially the people who main Pyro…)

I enjoy Stars because there is no stupid plug-ins(except for HLStats), and you don’t find as many people who are doing nothing for the team. I have yet to find a server with more people actively going for objectives rather than brain-less death matching. Would be nice to find another server to frequent though. Just can’t stand all the custom stuff thrown on servers lately.

It seems trading servers are the worst. That is where you are guaranteed to run in to people who just want to critique your trades and state you’ve been ripped off. Weapons aren’t much of a big deal, I can simply ask if someone has a certain weapon and someone may hook me up. But cosmetics are impossible. I have hardly any hats/miscs, so I usually get the short end of the stick, because whenever something deals with hats or miscs, people always triple check to make sure their cosmetic is either lower tier, or of similar value (which it seems is never the case).

TF2 Beta really seems like a wasted effort to me. They haven’t even really tested much in the way of weapon balancing that has yet to see itself in the main game. If they came up with a steady process of releasing to Beta, then tweaking according to feedback, then releasing it to the game, it would be great.

It would also help to have decent servers to join as well to test.

Yep, you got it. Stars is really the only place I play on anymore. Just hate all the servers cluttered with audio plugins, and what-not. Really should get back into making videos though.

So before the “big” update, we got another update that simply offered cosmetics. I was really excited to hop on TF2, until I heard this news. I really enjoy the idea of customizing your character and making yourself unique, but it just seems like it is all for nothing. The difficulty in getting what you want is what bothers me. My favorite class is the Scout, yet he is the class I have the least items for. Being able to trade items was nice, seeing as it became easier to simply trade a hat of a class I didn’t like, for one I did like. Unfortunately, the only people who trade are either up-traders, or traders that will never trade anything unless they have referred to there value spreadsheet to confirm they are not being ripped off.

Is there something wrong in simply trading for what you believe is visually appealing?

Apologies for the ramble, fast forward to the halloween update. New weapons? Nope.avi. You guessed it, more cosmetics. However I really wasn’t THAT surprised given last year’s Halloween update didn’t have weapons either. This time, the boss is Monoculus, which is a great boss fight…for the first few times. There is no incentive after you get the book, to continue fighting him. There is no reason to go to “Loot Island” once you get the book, which isn’t really that special anyways. The gift spawning on Viaduct is laughable to. No reason to even hunt for them, which may be good for those who don’t like to camp the map as Scout, but it feels like there is no contest in it when people just randomly stumble over them.

Oh well, I’ll continue playing regular TF2. Hopefully Christmas will bring forth a much more enjoyable update.

I’m quite intrigued at the idea of tumblr, but honestly, what do I have to contribute? Same with Twitter, I do like it, but it seems so unnecessary, and yet I check/use it everyday.

So I suppose you can expect PC related posts, games (specifically TF2), and anything else that I find interesting while I waste my pathetic time on the internet, refusing to do my work.

Thankfully it is the weekend, no big deal in posting I suppose.
